Birmingham Brand Photography with Plant-Based Herbalist
Brand shoot spotlight on Tamiqua the Herbalist.
I am so grateful to have been able to now shoot Tamiqua THREE times. She is a gorgeous soul with a passionate drive to bring herbalism to the forefront of people's minds when it comes to alternative care and holistic treatments.
Tamiqua is breaking down the historical stereotype that herbalists are elders in the community and brings to the role, youth, and relatability. Her belief that everyone has the right to and deserves good physical and mental health helps fuel her drive to educate and share methods of treatment by selling her products online as a full-time herbalist! (She's also a wonderful vegan chef as well!)
We set out to capture her with plenty of herbs, plants, fruits and veg surrounding her to give plenty of content to use throughout her websites and social media, emphasizing her brand partnerships, knowledge, and affinity toward furthering her education.
This was the first ever 2-day shoot I've delivered, making sure to take full advantage of the Airbnb she hired. We both brought in loads of props to pad out the space to look well lived in, including:
towels
duvet and pillow covers
wall art
bathmat
plants and flowers
jars of herbs
teapot and mugs
LOTS of books and study materials
Throughout our time together, we visited a floral shop, veggie market, and vegan grocery store, plus found a Jamaican shop that had DELICIOUS vegan patties! We shot her bath scenes in the evening of day one with the help of my giant godox light. The following morning we worked through the kitchen juicing, lounge relaxing, and bedroom stories we laid out, followed by a trip to Sefton Palm House with the grand finale of enjoying a well-deserved plant-based dinner at the Vibe in Liverpool.
