EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BOOKING A BRAND SHOOT WITH WILD KIND PHOTOGRAPHY

We're booked!

I AM SO GLAD WE GET TO WORK TOGETHER!

This guide was designed to give you loads of ideas, inspiration, and tips for planning your photoshoot - can't wait!

Brand Shoots are all about capturing you and your business in a natural, authentic, relatable way. It's not about staging perfection and smiling into my lens. Yes, we'll be strategic about what makes it in the frame, but it's important to remember that perfection isn't relatable, and relatability is our goal!

Together we'll form plans around how to capture each story you want to tell and create a library of images that help your audience connect and engage with you, and ultimately to increase your brand loyalty and visibility.

Have a read through and let me know if you have any questions!

With love and gratitude,

Kayleigh

what's your story?

The stories we capture can be just about anything! The main goal is to create authentic imagery that showcases the parts of you that your clients can relate to.

Need some ideas?

  • hiking or vacationing with your family

  • your morning routine

  • berry picking in the woods

  • the process of creating your product

  • taking your dogs to the park

  • having a meal with your partner

  • getting your kiddos ready in the morning

  • spending time in your garden

  • meeting up for drinks with friends

  • preparing for an event

  • your yoga and meditation practice

  • celebrating client wins

  • even running errands!

REAL MOMENTS ARE BEAUTIFUL.

This type of shooting is akin to lifestyle and documentary photography, where I take more of a guide, rather than full-on director role as we work through your key shot list and play out the stories you want to tell.

When planning, we'll think about what you want to share in your captions to help us come up with your key shot list.

It's your story! I'm just there to make sure it's captured beautifully.

let's get planning!

Our planning session will save us time on the day of the shoot, help me know what gear I need to bring, and get our heads around the day's schedule. We'll brainstorm and talk goals, photo needs, props, lighting, location, wardrobe, and anything that comes up in between. The next few sections should give you some great ideas!

THINGS TO START THINKING ABOUT:

WHAT

what scenes are we shooting?

WHERE

what locations are you thinking?

WARDOBE

what are you planning on wearing?

PROPS

what do you want to include?

PRIMPING

are you getting hair & makeup done?

PREPARATION

prep your mind, space, & everything else!

getting ready

There's so much more to personal branding photography than just showing up and hoping for the best. SO MUCH MORE. And that's why some preparation along the way will help you get the best out of your investment.

MENTALLY

Being in a good mental space is incredibly helpful as you prepare for our session. In the days leading up to the shoot I invite you to treat yourself. To you that may look like:

  • meditation

  • relaxation

  • splurging on that mani/pedi

  • soaking in the bath

  • hitting up that yoga class you rarely have time for

...you get the idea.

Do whatever feels right in order to center yourself, pause that mental to-do list, and de-clutter your mind before our photoshoot.

Feeling happy in how you look can contribute to inner confidence as well, so if you feel your very best all dolled up, I'd recommend having your hair and make-up done professionally - especially if it ticks one more thing off of your own list and helps you feel gorgeous!

ENTREPRENEURALLY

SPACIALLY if we're shooting in your house

Shooting in your space is a great way to capture your personality, surrounded by the tidbits of your life, however we need to make sure it reflects you in the BEST way. Here are some tips to make sure your space is prepped before I arrive.

  • De-clutter the areas we will be shooting (these will be the rooms we agreed have the best light) - if you don't want it in the picture, stow it away

  • Pick up some fresh flowers to create accents and brighten your rooms

  • Turn off lights and open shades

  • Think about the following:

  • Is there a playlist you'd like to use? If not I can provide!

  • Is there anything special in your house you'd like to incorporate?

  • Oh, and count on me moving furniture and perhaps climbing on (approved) things so we can get shots with the best light and angles!

PHYSICALLY

what to wear!

These photos will represent your brand so in the end it all comes down to how you want to be seen. You’ll want to make sure that you are comfortable and confident with your look. The below tips can be helpful but in the end, dress to suit your personality.

If we're inviting others into the shoot, complementing, rather than matching is key. Aim for timeless - neutrals and layers are great options.

Have a few wardrobe choices available so we can easily and quickly switch it up. Make sure they're wrinkle-free!

WHEN CHOOSING OUTFITS...

Unless they speak to your brand, I recommend avoiding:

  • super contrasting patterns

  • fluorescent and bright colors

  • skin-toned clothing

THINK ABOUT:

  • what story are you telling?

  • bringing in accents that complement your brand colors

  • branded pieces (ie: apron with logo)

  • fun graphic tees

  • can your clothing be easily stained in the story we're telling and does that suit your story?

what to expect during our session

Story-based brand photography is so fun to shoot! Once we've met up, we'll do a walk through and I'll get my gear all sorted out, taking a few shots to test for lighting and once that's sorted we'll get started working throug our key shot list.

I'll move around to get different angles so you have a nice variety. These shoots breed creativity so if some fun ideas pop in your head, do share!

If you tend to feel awkward in front of the camera at first, do NOT worry! Nearly EVERY one of my clients claim to be, but we still end up with plenty of amazing shots because guess what, I'M AWKWARD in front of the camera! So I know what's it like and I do my best to combat that.

Throughout the shoot we'll work through the stories we laid out in the planning session, taking breaks as needed.

Once we're done I'll pack it in and head home to back up your photos in order to get your proof gallery sent your way as soon as possible so you can get to marking your favorites!

"I had the best experience ever doing a branding shoot with Kayleigh! I’m not someone who is usually comfortable in front of a camera and I can honestly say no one has ever made me feel so confident and at ease as Kayleigh did! Whether it was saying stuff to make me laugh for candid pictures, to making a playlist of songs tailored to my taste that would set the mood for the shoot! The whole day was incredible and the pictures are incredible! Can’t recommend enough!"

Feel Confident on Camera

MOST PEOPLE DON'T FEEL NATURAL ON CAMERA AND THAT'S OK!

I can't tell you how many people come to me and describe themselves using the word "awkward!" You're not alone and that's a-okay! I tend to be awkward myself but that's what makes us relatable, endearing, unforgettable!

I'm here to help you feel your best so you can step in front of the camera and confidently let your light shine. Here are a few tools clients use to show up to their photoshoot as the best version of themself.
